The month of March is already promising to be an exciting one for event lovers in Tema as it is loaded with mind-blowing events back-to-back. Here are a few events to spice your independence holiday in the city of Tema:
Independence Day Kenkey Party: March 06.
In its second year running, this year’s kenkey party is promising to hold a lot of excitements for lovers of culture, music and food as organizers are fired up with their preparations. Now let me give you a brief of what to expect that day on Wednesday:
The street will be blocked to traffic from around the Tema Parents School junction through to the Shell Filling Station area. Seating areas which will be made up of canopies, chairs and tables will stretch from one end of the road to the other. The two hosting pubs; George’s and Monti Pubs will provide top of the world entertainments for patrons.
Organizers says there is a lot to look forward to when it comes to activities. These include:live musical performances, eating competition, tequila challenge, dance and rap battles among others.
The events kick-start from 11AM till late.
Tema Bike Festival:
For people who love to keep fit, this is it! You don’t want to miss this for even the most tempting Jollof. It is an event that brings every bicycle and bicycle lovers to one central point where they take off riding on the soothing shoulders of music and fun. And Oh Yes, all the fine guys and sweet ladies will be in their best looks so you will have enough to take care of your stress. Don’t get it twisted though. LOL! And don’t forget to come in all safety gears.
The converging point is Community 4 VALCO Club House (VERA) at 5AM. The festival will be climaxed with a musical jam later in the evening at 6PM. Venue is VERA Street, Community 4.
Tema is Alive Musical Concert:
Indeed the city is alive and kicking. Tema is the headquarters for quality music and over the years, the city has churned out and continue to churn out some of the nation’s finest musical icons; from highlife legends such as AB Crentsil, Jewel Ackah to the contemporary such as Sarkodie and Kwesi Arthur among others. It is at the back of this that Akwaaba Music Worldwide, a record Label based in Los Angeles is hosting its debut concert dubbed Tema is Alive Concert.
The concert comes off on the Independence Day, Wednesday March 6 from 12noon with a basketball tournament followed by the musical concert. A sea of talented musicians including B4Bonah, La Meme Gang among others are penciled down to headline the concert. Countless number of emerging artistes are also lined up to keep the concert lit. Other side attractions include street fashion show and pop-up shops that will sell variety of African-themed wears.
Tonga Vee Street Carnival
Another event to look up to on March 6 is a Music Street Carnival hosted by Tonga Vee, a talented artiste who is already doing exploits with his unique talents. The street of Tema Community 7 around the shell filling station will come to a standstill in obedience to musical talents. You can’t afford to miss this. The street carnival will be preceded by a TV Game Tournament from morning till evening. Let’s meet there!
