Glaucoma is a condition that causes damage to the eye’s optic nerve and gets worse over time. It’s often linked to a buildup of pressure inside one’s eye. It is caused by an intrinsic deterioration of the optic nerve, which leads to high fluid pressure on the front part of the eye.
Most people with glaucoma have no early symptoms or pain, the reason why regular screening is recommended. In view of this Queens-Blush-By-Esta, a makeup brand has initiated the free screening programme to educate people on the dangers of the condition as well as offer basic medical assistance to people who are affected by it.
Speaking to insidetema, the CEO of Queens-Blush-By-Esta, Ms. Esther Adomah Effah emphasize the need for people to pay attention to their eyes.
“For me the eye is one of the most important part of the body so there is the need for total care for it. I lost an uncle due to Glaucoma. The condition affected his eyes and partially got him blinded. He was actually knocked down by a car because of his poor sight. He did not survive it. If it happened to someone so close to me, I don’t want to wait for someone else to experience the same fate. I will encourage people to come and have their eyes screened. We have made provisions to dispense basic medications if the need arises”.
The screening will take place on Saturday November 24 at the TDC Club House opposite the Tema Community 4 Basketball Court between 9AM and 3PM.
